Seven Chilean nationals have been charged in connection with a high-profile burglary ring that targeted the homes of some of the biggest names in sports, including Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Joe Burrow.

The alleged thieves are accused of stealing more than $2 million in luxury items from multiple professional athletes.

Federal authorities unsealed a criminal complaint this week, identifying the suspects as Pablo Cartes, Ignacio Cartes, Bastian Freraut, Jordan Sanchez, Bastian Morales, Alexander Chavez, and Sergio Cabello.

According to the charges, the group conspired to commit interstate transportation of stolen property, a crime that carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

Court documents reveal that the burglaries took place between October and December 2024, with the suspects allegedly targeting athletes' homes while they were away playing in games.

The crime spree began in early October when the homes of Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce were broken into. Authorities say the suspects stole jewelry, cash, and other high-value possessions while the two were occupied with their game against the New Orleans Saints.

Later that month, on October 21, the burglars reportedly struck again, this time targeting the residence of a Tampa Bay Buccaneers player. The complaint states that jewelry, a suitcase, and a firearm were taken from the property.

One of the biggest hauls occurred on November 2, when Milwaukee Bucks player Bobby Portis’ home was hit while his team faced the Cleveland Cavaliers. The thieves allegedly made off with $1.484 million in valuables, including jewelry, designer bags, suitcases, a safe, and cash.

Joe Burrow, the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback, was another high-profile victim. According to federal authorities, the group burglarized his home on December 9 while the Bengals were on the road playing against the Dallas Cowboys. The suspects allegedly took $300,000 worth of jewelry and designer bags.

The final burglary in the case took place in late December at the residence of a Memphis Grizzlies player, with thieves reportedly stealing $1 million in goods.

Three of the seven suspects were arrested following a traffic stop in Ohio. In addition to burglary charges, they are also accused of falsifying records in a federal investigation.

The case highlights a growing concern about organized theft rings targeting high-profile individuals, especially athletes whose schedules are public. Federal investigators are continuing to probe the full extent of the operation, and additional charges may follow as they uncover more details.
